How to check if KillBot is installed correctly?
- Go to Yandex Webvisor and check that all visits have "users parameters" that KillBot sends to the Yandex Metrika.
Why"users parameters" not be sent to the metrics for all visits?
- Most likely, you have set the "Use Yandex Metrika integrated with KillBot" parameter and your have duplicated Yandex Metrika tag on your website.
- It is possible that you have set the parameter "Use the Yandex Metrica tag placed on my website" and the KillBot code is located above your Yandex Metrika tag. Place the Yandex Metrika tag above the KillBot to Yandex Metrika tag loads in advance.
- Some bots cache the website and load's an old website version. In this case, wait for the bot to clear its cache.
Will my site’s search ranking be affected?
- KillBot does not negatively affect Google or others search systems.
It all seems complicated: snapshots, characteristics, settings...
- We live in a complex world that demands thinking. Contextual advertising requires understanding. Analyzing the sales funnel in Google Analitics to identify bottlenecks and improve conversion rates also requires thought. In KillBot, you can use the default settings, which will provide 90-95% bot filtration quality. But if you want to filter out bots 100%, you’ll need to understand KillBot or get a plan with our support.
Is it necessary to see snapshots and understand them?
- It's not necessary; you can use the default settings, which will provide over 90-95% accuracy in identifying real users. If you want greater accuracy or if you have issues with spam and bots, then you might need to explore the snapshots a bit.
Can I block just one bot that is spamming forms?
-
Yes, you can. Go to the Yandex Metrika and find the snapshot of the bot's visit that is spamming (go to the WebVisor, find the spammy visit, and check the
snapshot
parameter (snsht) in the visitor's details). -
Check if other visits with the same snapshot are also bots.
-
Find the snapshot of this bot on the snapshots page in the KillBot account.
-
Set the action for this bot manually - either show a CAPTCHA or block it.
Can bots that generate direct visits to the website be blocked?
- Yes, they can be - using the same principle as blocking spam through forms mentioned above.
How to determine if a snapshot belongs to a user or a bot?
- To determine whether visits associated with a snapshot belong to users or bots, always check live conversions. If the snapshot belongs to a bot, there will be no live conversions. If you cannot analyze live conversions, then some bot snapshots can be identified by similar behavior or not human behavior.
Can KillBot be used on multiple domains?
- The KillBot script is not domain-specific. It is only linked to the Yandex Metrika tag. To avoid merging data from different websites under one KillBot script or under one Yandex Metrika tag, you will need to purchase a separate subscription. If all your sites uses the same Yandex Metrika tag, you can use KillBot normally.
Is a browser snapshot the same as a fingerprint?
- No, a browser snapshot is not the same as a fingerprint.
- A fingerprint is a detailed profile of an individual user's browser and computer settings, which are unique to that user.
- A browser snapshot refers to the software used to access a website (like Chrome, Safari, or another browser).
- For example, if a user in USA has Chrome version X on operating system version Y, a browser snapshot for a user in China will be similar if the browser and operating system versions are roughly the same.
