Setting Up KillBot with Multiple Servers

Due to increasing restrictions affecting various online services in Russia, access to servers may occasionally become unavailable from both mobile and wired networks. To improve reliability and ensure uninterrupted website availability, we recommend connecting your website to two or more KillBot protection servers. This provides redundancy and significantly improves connection stability.

At the moment, you can combine your own server with the following KillBot servers: 109.236.57.58, 82.148.21.137, and 31.192.108.184.

In future updates, any combination of up to 8 KillBot servers will be supported.

If you are running KillBot on your own server and want to add an additional server for redundancy, first update the KillBot firmware on your existing server. You can do this from the following menu: https://my.kill-bot.net/vps/install-killbot/manual

Select the configuration with two servers:

Connecting KillBot to two servers

In the "KillBot DNS Screen Settings" section, select the Wildcard certificate for the main domain and all subdomains:

Wildcard certificate for domen.ru and *.domen.ru

Then create the following DNS records:

Connecting KillBot to two servers

Add the following records to your DNS zone:

*.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

*.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

_acme-challenge.domen.ru
CNAME
domen.ru.acme.killbot.ru

Some DNS providers require a trailing dot when creating the CNAME record. In this case, enter:

domen.ru.acme.killbot.ru.

instead of

domen.ru.acme.killbot.ru

Otherwise, the DNS provider may automatically append your domain name, resulting in an incorrect record such as:

domen.ru.acme.killbot.ru.domen.ru

which will not work correctly.

If you already use the wildcard record *.domen.ru, there is no need to create separate www records:

www.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

www.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

If your domain uses the .РФ extension, the www record is usually unnecessary. However, you should still create the wildcard record (*.your-domain.рф), as it is required for proper operation.

Setup completed

Adding wildcard DNS records allows requests to KillBot technical domains to be routed through your own domain. This improves connectivity, reduces the risk of blocking, and eliminates direct connections to overseas IP addresses.

The final result will look like this:

Benefits of wildcard DNS records when using KillBot

If you cannot use the wildcard record (*.domen.ru) because some subdomains should bypass KillBot, simply create several individual A records instead:

r1.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

r2.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

r3.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

r4.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

r5.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

r1.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

r2.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

r3.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

r4.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

r5.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

``` ```html
Possible Issues and Troubleshooting
1) TXT record validation error
If the setup reports an error related to an existing TXT record, simply delete that TXT record and run the setup again.
2) Incorrect certificate type selected
To use two or more KillBot servers, you must select a Wildcard certificate that covers both your main domain and all subdomains.
Wildcard certificate not selected
Then, in the "KillBot DNS Screen Settings" section, select "Wildcard certificate for the main domain and subdomains":
Wildcard certificate for domen.ru and *.domen.ru
3) SSL certificate conflicts
If the connection still fails, deleting the existing SSL certificate may resolve the issue. After it is removed, repeat the setup process.
Delete SSL certificate
Beget DNS Configuration Example
Beget uses a slightly different DNS management interface, so creating CNAME records requires a few additional steps.
If your domain is registered with another registrar but uses Beget DNS hosting, open the DNS settings here:
Connecting a website using Beget DNS hosting to two KillBot servers
If your domain is registered directly with Beget, the DNS settings are located here:
Connecting a website using Beget DNS hosting to two KillBot servers
Add the following DNS records:
*.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184
*.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58
domen.ru → 31.192.108.184
domen.ru → 109.236.57.58
_acme-challenge.domen.ru
CNAME
domen.ru.acme.killbot.ru
First, create the _acme-challenge DNS zone using the green + button.
Connecting a website using Beget DNS hosting to two KillBot servers
Then open the record for editing and enter the following value:
Connecting a website using Beget DNS hosting to two KillBot servers
``` ```html

Next, create the * DNS record if it does not already exist:

Connecting a website using Beget DNS hosting to two KillBot servers

Enter the IP address in this record. The second IP address can be added using the "+ Add record" button:

Connecting KillBot to two servers

Add the second IP address in the same way using the "+ Add record" button:

Connecting KillBot to two servers on beget.com

As a result, you should have the following DNS configuration:

Connecting KillBot to two servers on beget.com

You do not need to create a separate www record if you are already using the wildcard record *.

If you cannot create a wildcard record (*) because you have subdomains that should not be protected by KillBot (for example, 1c.domen.ru), you can create individual records instead:

r1.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

r1.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

r2.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

r2.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

r3.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

r3.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

r4.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

r4.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

r5.domen.ru → 109.236.57.58

r5.domen.ru → 31.192.108.184

```
